Matt Westrick has been an athlete all his life and takes pride in passing on his enthusiasm for sports. In 2008, Matt entered the NFL Draft as an outside linebacker from Eastern Illinois University. During his quest to play in the NFL, Matt worked out with multiple NFL teams. Matt’s recognitions include The BlackCat Award for Outstanding Defensive player of the year at Eastern Illinois University. Previously, Matt attended Grossmont Jr. College where he was entered into the All Decade team and won a National Championship.
Matt’s love of sports extends beyond the football field. Matt played Semi-Pro Baseball for the San Diego Stars where he started two years in center field. While playing baseball at El Capitan High School, Matt was named San Diego Offensive Player of the Year in 2001 and was awarded the first Tri-Athlete Award for making All C.I.F. in three different sports.
Matt now owns LTA Sports and works with many athletes all over San Diego County, helping them to learn modern and professional level training techniques. Matt has trained under Dan Brandenburg (who played for the Buffalo Bills for four years and has trained Clay Matthews, Brian Cushing, and Von Miller). Matt uses the same techniques being used at the pro levels, with premier athletes, to polish their “on-field play”.
Speed Training with coach Westrick is available in the San Diego area for athletes 8 years and up. His session fees will be available here on May 10, 2013.
