A long snapper must be able to perform multiple duties. On field goals and extra points he must have the ability to snap a ball to the holder with precision and speed as well as execute his blocking assignments after the snap. On punts he must be able to snap a ball up to fifteen yards with precision and speed (in the NFL they look for snappers that can execute a snap to the punter in .68 of a second or less), execute his blocking assignment, and get down field to assist in preventing a punt return.
