It’s all about the kids! Have you ever seen a Pee Wee football game where an obnoxious parent was acting like a fool, yelling and screaming at the referees, the coaches, the other parents, and even the kids? If you haven’t, let me tell you, it happens far too often.  Kids are a product of their up-bringing and the experiences they encounter during that period.  Football, and sports in general, should be a positive experience for a child.

Setting a bad example as a parent at a youth football game can have negative consequences on not only the child of that parent but all of the kids subjected to such nonsense.

As we say here at My Football Mentor ‘your character will shape your destiny’. Well, your character as a parent can also shape your child’s destiny. The character you display as an adult will set an example for your child to follow. This goes for coaches of children at the Pee Wee level as well.  A coach at this level is responsible for building character for EVERY child on the team he or she coaches. There is no room in the game of football for coaches who can not act as they would expect their players to…with poise, positive enthusiasm, and good sportsmanship.

So, if you have a child that participates on a Pee Wee football team where there is a parent or coach that can not act as they should, my advice to you is to place your child in another program where the parents and coaches act as responsible, high character roll models.  Remember, it’s all about the kids!
